Christina Murphy masters the delicate balance between classic and modern, trendy and traditional, young and refined. The spaces she designs are all of these things at once. They’re timeless, but on trend; sophisticated and fresh. I’ve loved Christina’s work for a few years now and was pleased to see that she recently updated her portfolio with a few new projects. I especially loved this beautiful, neutral Manhattan apartment. As much as I embrace the use of bold colors and patterns, I found this apartment, dressed in soothing whites, creams, and a touch of chocolate to be so refreshing. Despite the fact that it is not filled with bright or deep colors, it still achieves a  great deal of visual impact through the use of interesting art, furniture, and lighting. christina murphy9

{In the entry, Christina mixes traditional elements  such as the French mirror with modern touches like the Lucite console, abstract paintings, and capiz flower hanging pendant.}

{In the living room, Christina blends various textures—linen, velvet, and sisal while adding in a touch of ikat and some chocolate pillows. The geometric end table and large-scale glass lamp make a statement in the room.}

{The beautiful kitchen features all of the classic elements we all love—white cabinetry, hardwood floors, marble counters and backsplash. The industrial stool and mirrored hanging light lend a hint of modernity to an otherwise classic space.}

{The bedroom appears to be a true respite—classic linens in soothing colors, a unique chandelier, and a hint of pattern on the roman shades.}

{Notice the gorgeous mirrored cabinet fronts in the bathroom. Not only are they beautiful, they help to make the New York-sized space feel larger than it actually is.}
