This week’s “Fab Room” belongs to a lucky little lady—one month old Daphne whose stylish nursery was recently featured on Apartment Therapy. Clearly, Daphne’s mommy, Deirdre has a penchant for glamour. As much as I like sweet, baby-specific nurseries, I really love rooms like this one that are geared towards baby, but maintain a chic sensibility that lends itself to the child’s needs as he, or in this case, she grows up and are cohesive with the rest of the design aesthetic found throughout the home. The bassinet in the photo above may just be the most fabulous version I’ve seen and I love the mirrored and brass accents that add such glamour to the space. These items were originally part of the room when it housed Deirdre’s Hollywood Regency-inspired office, but they found their way into the new nursery design.
{To get the room ready for baby, Deirdre added crown moulding to the room, painted the walls a shade of cool aqua, and hit up Target just in time to score Missoni linens for the baby’s crib. She wanted something that wasn’t too girly, but featured bright colors and the Missoni for Target Collection was just the thing. The pattern play continues with the fantastic rug.}
{The coral upholstery on the vintage chair works beautifully with the Missoni linens and black Jenny Lind crib.}
{Deirdre scored the vintage chandelier at a tag sale for $20. After a coat of gold spray paint, it was ready for it’s close-up.}
What do you prefer when it comes to nursery design? Do you like sweet, baby-specific, traditional designs or do you like to mix things up?
Have a wonderful weekend!
