renea living

{The dramatic living room features wooden beams, slipcovered furniture in pure white, Scalamandré leopard print fabric on pillows and a pair of gilded chairs, and a play on scale via the tall table lamps and beautiful antiqued mirror.}

The July issue of Paper City features the chic, lakeside retreat of Houston interior designer and owner of Shabby Slips, Renea Abbott and her husband, Greg Manteris, owner of Creative Flooring Resources. The home which overlooks Lake Austin serves as a respite from the hectic lives Abbott and Manteris live back in Houston. The home boasts lakeside views from just about every room and has been decorated in Abbott’s signature style—loads of white, a mix of modern and classic pieces, along with contemporary art and graphic prints, resulting in an ultra-glamorous weekend home.

renea living3

{This view provides a peek towards the dining room and kitchen. I love the mirrored coffee table.}

renea dining

{In the dining room, Abbott selected a table and chairs from her store, Shabby Slips, along with an antique chandelier.}

renea kitchen

{Abbott and Manteris don’t cook very much when they’re in Austin, so they opted not to change too much in the kitchen of this 15 year old home. They simply added new appliances and replaced the existing countertops with honed black granite for an updated look.}

renea living2

{The sitting room features club chairs from Houston shop, Watkins Culver along with a sisal rug and Fortuny chandelier from Creative Flooring Resources.

renea hargett

{I absolutely love this vignette. The stunning brass and lacquered chest is from Area, one of my favorite stores in Houston. The artwork is by Joanie Jacomini, purchased in Round Top in 2010. The fabulous Hargett Lamps by J.Randall Powers for Visual Comfort & Co. are available through Circa Lighting.}

renea bed

{I love Paper City, but I don’t understand why their photos are always formatted in such different sizes on their website. I wish you could see more of this room. The Venetian gilded headboard was purchased in France. The chests were reconfigured by Abbott with brass door knockers. The antelope-printed carpet is from Creative Flooring Resources.

renea bath

{The Calcatta Gold-swathed master bath is decidedly glamorous.}

renea guest

{This guest bedroom is classic and welcoming.}

renea guest2

{I love the boutique hotel look of this guestroom. The Cowan & Tout striped wallpaper and Ghost chair add a touch of fun. It’s difficult to tell in this photo, but Abbott who says she is “obsessed with adding a feminine touch” selected pink pillow shams from Kuhl-Linscomb for the Thomas O’Brien bed.}

renea patio

{The fabulous patio offers beautiful views of Lake Austin and the surrounding cliffs. The outdoor furniture is from Restoration Hardware.}
